190 parkrunners took part in Tralee on Saturday, a big number considering there was a new parkrun at Killarney House and organised runs at Killarney and Brandon Bay.
Luckily enough Pat, John and Tony set up the course before they headed to Killarney, John remained loyal to Tralee staying and guiding Barry around the course.
Luckily enough I didn’t have as much to do as Dan last week. We welcomed 11 runners from Vandeleur as well as runners from Athlone, Bangor, Mallow and Mount Lucas parkruns, and some first timers from Ardfert and Brosna.
Bridget O’Connor celebrated her "50" milestone having completed all 50 in Tralee, well done Bridget. Then we under starters orders. A sharp blast of the whistle and they were off.
It took just over 18 minutes for James Daley to effortlessly cross the finish line, with our first lady Sarah Leahy coming home just under 23 minutes. It was wonderful to see everyone finishing, some smiling, some dead on their feet after the efforts but all appreciative of the trojan work the volunteers were doing. All the results are here and you can enjoy Vicky's great photos on our Facebook Page.
We are looking for volunteers over the next few weeks as during the summer holidays it’s always hard to fill the roster so please consider volunteering.
After the run everything was packed away in double quick time and we headed to the Brandon to complete the results and have some refreshment.
It was the easiest results I have ever done thanks to our volunteers who made no errors at all.
I think Saturday’s run had it all. Good weather, A run be it fast or slow, Tea/Coffee and a scone afterwards with a chat with friends that I have met due to participation in parkrun and the best thing about it is we can do it all again next week when Pa is taking charge.
