Run Report 30

Afternoon all!

We're just back from a Junior parkrun here in Albert College park. It's a great event for any children looking to try out running in a non-competitive way. My little lad loves it.

Also just some parkrun news, parkrun has become an official supporter of the Gaisce award which is an award from the President for self development.  It's open to 15 to 25 year olds and is a great way to get your teenager engaged with community. parkrun is now included in the volunteering element and we always need volunteers! :) Gaisce is definitely worth mentioning to your child or your child's school. Here's the link to sign up or just see what it's all about.

This Saturday some of our runners took part in the newest parkrun on the block, Tyrellstown. We hope Tyrellstown had a great first event and really wish them every success, we've been so lucky to meet such great people at Tolka Valley and have such great support from our participants and volunteers, we hope Tyrellstown gets the same support. Laura grabbed a snap with the Taoiseach while she was there and also was faster than him. Bonus!! :D

Autumn was in the air on Saturday morning but the rain stayed away. 29 people ran, jogged and walked the course this week, of whom 8 were first timers, and 5 recorded new Personal Bests, well don, Gerry Thornbury, Fionnuala McCarthy, Sandra Cregan, Linda Hosey, and Samantha Hickey. Representatives of Clonliffe Harriers, Dublin Runners and Running Forever Running club took part.

Mick Bermingham blew around again and was first male finisher for the fourth time, with Ann Foran taking first female for the second week in a row.

We had visitors from Longrun Meadow parkrun in Somerset, Becky and Carlos, lovely meeting you guys and hope you're enjoying your day in Howth.

The event was made possible by 8 volunteers:

Peter DANIEL • Mary GAVIN • Louise O'DONNELL • John SMITH • Debbie HENVEY • Karen HENVEY • John MCDONNELL • Marie BRENNAN

We are extremely low on volunteers for the 22nd, most of the Core Team are away and so are many regular volunteers so please, please, please contact us asap if you can help out.

That's the craic,

Debbie,

Tolka Team
