strokestown

August the 3rd we held our 46th Strokestown parkrun. We welcomed locals, firstimers, and visitors from Preston. A warm welcome of congratulations and applause for Donie and Georgina who got married last week both members of Sliabh Bawn AC and Donie participates and volunteers at Strokestown parkrun.

First home was Thomas Feeley and first Lady home was Louise Brennan. Thomas holds the fastest pace at our parkrun. Congrats Thomas. 38 people ran /walked . We had 3 firstimers, 7 new personal bests & 4 clubs represented. Thanks to all participants who have supported our parkrun.

Why choose Strokestown parkrun as your Saturday morning Run/ Walk . Every Saturday morning it happens at nine thirty, you will be greeted by our run director and volunteers. Its free for all.

Its a great way of coming together with family, friends, neighbours, firstimers, tourists and making new friends. Its good for our mental and physical wellbeing. Participants can push buggies or keep pace with your dog on a short lead.
Our core team & volunteers are what makes our parkrun a success. This would not happen without our Event director and also our volounteer co-ordinator Ger who gives up her precious time getting more people helping.

Volunteers cheer everyone on whether you are first or last, and there is no age limit. Anyone can do volunteer roles there is so much to learn and experience volunteering at parkrun.

As you are aware photos are posted after each parkrun, this would not be possible without our excellent photographer Bernie ,who captures our parkrun participants and volunteers. We do appreciate everyone may not like their photo been taken so please let us know and we will ensure your privacy.

Thanks to Strokestown Parkhouse for the use of the park also the managment & staff.
If you have not tried Strokestown parkrun please come along any Saturday for 9:20 am , run / walk commences at 9:30 am start. Look forward to seeing you there, & if you have registered dont forget your barcode.
Thank you. Patricia.
