St. Anne’s parkrun – Event #106

Rain was promised for November 14th parkrun and unfortunately delivered on that promise. It was a wet morning but that did not deter the 170 runners who made it to St. Annes for their weekly fix of parkrun, or the run director who was quite happy under his umbrella.

We welcomed the Forget the Gym running chicks and the Irish Life 5k graduation runners. And the Evening Herald were there to capture the spirit and magic of parkrun. Get a copy of Monday's paper for the article. We will also post to the facebook page.

We had visitors from Hastings, Wimbledon and London who were very welcome with one of the Wimbledon runners making St. Annes his 84th different parkrun, an amazing achievement in itself. It is great to hear parkrun tourists loving the park and getting a new pb too.

A massive thank you to the volunteers who braved the rain to allow the run take place, we would be lost without them. For those of you who have not experienced the joy of volunteering please step forward as it is your run and we are all responsible for keeping it going.

Thank you all for your understanding with regard to the results. They may not have been up to our normal speed but it was an issue beyond our control.

See you all next Saturday, 9.20 at the finish area for the briefing. Good news, good weather is expected, so get out and volunteer or run, just be there.

Richie (Run Director)
