St Anne’s parkrun # 274 – 02/03/2019

Before you run tomorrow let's take a minute to reflect on last week.

The roster was full from the Thursday evening so off we went.

The biggest relief was that it was dry, it always makes for a more enjoyable run, I'm sure you'd agree.

The biggest news of the day was that the launch of Park Walk, a 6 week initiative to entice many to join in parkrun, was launched. Jamie, Louise and Conor were on hand to welcome all of those who were taking that first step, with Louise and Conor acting as co-ordinators throughout the event.

Celebrations aplenty were taking place with Colm (one of the latest recruits to the core team) and Rachel O'Toole jointly celebrating their 100th parkrun. Joining them on this milestone was Declan Boyle. Congratulations guys on reaching this great milestone.

We welcomed Steve Beddoe from Bakewell parkrun visited our parkrun in between some serious concerts in the Olympia Theatre and promptly scooped the legendary #98 token.

Celebrity watch was in full flow for some of our female runners and they were not disappointed when Virgin One's weatherman Deric Ó hArtagáin burst into our world at the last minute, fitting in some photographs both before and after the run, with a bit more time to chat after the run. Even managing to fit in a bit of filming while the runners assembled for the start.

After siren start the rest was poetry in motion. The volunteers, who we are always grateful for did their thing and 547 people completed the course and got their results - after the team managed to catch a bit of refreshment in the ever welcoming Olives Room café.

See you all in the morning, don't forget your barcode and don't duck out of the funnel before getting your position token which you will not bring home.

The stats are below

Another thanks goes to those who came up on the morning to ask if they could help out, as we were a little stuck for volunteers. So if you want to help out but also run, there are certain roles which allow you to do that. Get in touch with us through facebook or via email stanneshelpers@parkrun.com
