St.Anne’s parkrun Run Report # 141

We had a skeleton crew of volunteers to begin the Saturday with and just before the run got under way we had a few more people come up to the Run Director to offer their volunteering services.
Even though it was a Bank Holiday we had 242 runners taking part. With visitors from Serpentine Running Club in London, Ranelagh Running Club (also from London) and a visitor from Cambridge parkrun. The weather was perfect for running.

I wanted to thank the volunteers again for helping us out. Without them the parkrun wouldn't be able to continue and if you haven't helped out before, we give you training on the day and make sure you are comfortable with the role.

A HUGE Thanks goes to:

Another thanks goes to those who came up on the morning to ask if they could help out, as we were a little stuck for volunteers. So if you want to help out but also run, there are certain roles which allow you to do that. Get in touch with us through facebook or via email stanneshelpers@parkrun.com

St. Anne’s parkrunner of the month – October 2015

Congratulations to Declan Robinson, parkrunner of the month for October.

Name:  Declan Robinson

Club: Raheny Shamrocks

Age:  28

Home parkrun:  St. Annes

Occupation:  Insurance

Number of Runs:  56

Favourite Volunteer Role: Tough one; I love photographer, but when you're pacer, you get to run as well as volunteer. Plus I love seeing the thrilled faces (and the odd hand shake) when they will have gotten a PB.

What do you do at parkruns?: I am usually in turmoil most Saturday mornings. I make it out of the bed 90% of the time. Usually being a volunteer or agreeing to meet a friend guilts me into exiting the warm bed. I parkrun as an opportunity to meet up with friends. Post-run we always go to the market for some well earned almond pastries, coffees and catch up. Conversation usually overflows to whoever is sitting beside us and it goes from there. As a result of these events, I have ended up doing "MC" for a quiz night in aid of another parkrunners charity, who was effectively a stranger at the time!

How has parkrun changed your running?: parkrun has given me the confidence to join a club. I was struggling to run on my own and the social part of sport is the bit i love most. I am with my club 5 weeks now and I cant believe why I didn't make this decision sooner.  They cater for all levels, shapes and sizes and is a great laugh.

What do you like about parkrun?: The community. You arrive at parkrun having never met anyone before. You may have brought a friend. You quickly realise there are no strangers. Everybody is together sharing the same feel good ethos. These people have never met you, they may never meet you, yet they are shouting encouragement at you,
willing you on, taking your photo and congratulating you on your achievement.  What a wonderful experience.

Most memorable or funniest parkrun moment?: Even though I have run many parkruns since. My most memorable moment will always be running the very first St. Annes parkrun on the morning of my wedding; 28th September 2013. Here's hoping I can do the same for the Ruby!

Leading the ladies was Kate O'Neill (3rd overall), while our pacers Kieran Martin (20 mins) and Damien Martin (25 mins) led a number of runners to their goals. Paul Grant finished in the highly coveted 98th place.

Congratulations to Aine Kelly and Elma Keane on reaching their 50th parkrun - what an achievement - well done ladies.

We always need volunteers - there are many regular runners who have not volunteered yet. The event's continued success depends on you stepping forward to help out, so please do. If everyone volunteered at least once per year, we would have a full roster every week many times over!

St. Anne’s parkrun – Run Report – Event #93

Hello St. Annes parkrunners!!!

Another lovely morning greeted our 316 parkrun warriors on Saturday.

Regular runner and volunteer Deirdre Byrne was first across the line for the 2nd time in a whopping personal best time of 16:56..only 4 seconds off the long standing female record set by Aoife Talty at our very 1st event...maybe not the record for much longer

Our first male finisher (2nd overall) didn't record his name with us.

Also a big shout out to Colette Madigan who had a special milestone occasion as she completed her 50th parkrun. So a big congratulations to Colette who I am sure is eager to go for the next 50!

As I mentioned in the pre-run briefing, volunteers seem to be very hard to come by these days. This can lead to delays for everyone at the end and more chance of mistakes being made if we don't have enough people to ensure a smooth running. This is your event...our event...everybody's event, so if you enjoy it and would like to see it continue, then we need to get more people helping out. If you would like to help ensure the future of St. Annes parkrun, then you can contact us at stanneshelpers@parkrun.ie, get in touch via our facebook page or speak to us in person at any of the events. This week's volunteer heroes were:

Alan Foley, Anne McComish, Connor Jennings, Damien Martin, Deirdre Byrne, Dermot Coffey, Eddie McGovern, Gary Kenny, Jamie Plummer, John O'Connor, Mark McComish, Nicole Roechert, Ollie Power, Philip Boylan, Richard O'Connor, Tommy Crampton and Una Cherry who was also the PROUD inductee 98th position hall of fame!! So a big BIG thank you to you all!

The full results list can be found at http://www.parkrun.ie/stannes/results/weeklyresults/?runSeqNumber=93

The rest of your stats are below, and I look forward to seeing you all at another great St. Annes parkrun in the near future.

Hi Everyone,

A glorious morning greeted our 250 parkrun warriors and 20 volunteer heroes for our 85th event. Was great to see so many of you answering the call to deck yourselves out in the green and tri-colours in support of Ireland...shame about the result though grrrr.

Special mention also (even though he wasn't there) to Rob Clarke who was St. Annes parkrunner of the month for March but was recently upgraded to be parkrunner of the month for Ireland. Congratulations Rob.

our first lady of the day was Aine Crimin also of Raheny Shamrocks...I'm starting to spot a trend here :-)

Our coveted and much sought after 98th place was claimed by first timer Eavan Connolly. Congratulations to you all.

St. Anne’s parkrun Run Report #78 – 25/4/2015

In stark contrast to the previous week (and most days since) it was a miserable morning weather-wise for parkrun number 78. However this did not stop 245 parkrunners and 16 volunteers from making sure St. Annes parkrun continued to be a terrific community event.
Our field were led home by Finbar O'Grady (after quite a battle with Wesley O'Brien) and Helen Carr was our first lady across the line. The coveted number 98 position was claimed by first timer Sven Wasmer, although the idiot Run Director never got around to taking his picture....sorry Sven!!

St. Annes parkrun COULD NOT and WOULD NOT happen without our excellent volunteers who give up their time every Saturday morning to make the event possible. This weeks heroes were:

Anne MC COMISH • Ciara MALONE • Connor JENNINGS • Declan O RIORDAN • Emma FEEHAN • John O'CONNOR • Mark GILLERAN • Mary OONAN • Noel CULLEN • Ollie POWER • Peter KILMARTIN • Richard O'CONNOR • Stella KUIT • Susan HOLMGREN • Úna NÍ CHRIBÍN • Valerie HAND

If you enjoy parkrun, and wish to see it continue, if you were to volunteer just a few times every year then everyone would get to enjoy all aspects of parkrun, instead of a lot of the same names appearing on the volunteer list every week. All the roles are very easy and full training will be provided on the day.

All the stats for the week are below, and once CONGRATULATIONS to John Byrne who completed his 50th parkrun on Saturday :)

See you all on Saturday for another great parkrun

Run Director
