St Anne’s parkrun – Event number 70 21st February 2015

Hi all,

We had a great field of 266 runners, who braved the cold and windy day to make this weekend's parkrun.
We also had a great team of volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly.
Another great thing is that we did not lose any of our tokens.

One apology to make, that we did not acknowledge Keith Fleming who completed his 50th Parkrun last Saturday. Congratulations Keith.

St Annes parkrun Event # 37 21/06/14

Twas a cracking summer's morning at St. Anne's as the midsummer event came upon us. 'Fresh' from having done a marathon at midnight and finished a mere 6 hours before the run kicked off, it was my pleasure to preside over 271 finishers on this glorious summer morning. We were pleased to welcome a parkrun tourist from the UK, who despite a few cheeky pints of Guinness the night before, pulled a storming performance out of the bag, to lead the runners home in what was an exciting battle with David Jackson and Kate Cronin.

Men's placings:
Michael MORLEY (VM45-49) of Birchfield Harriers, was first over the line in 17:09 - first appearance.
David JACKSON (SM25-29) (Unattached) was second over the line in 17:14.
Martin MCKENNA (SM20-24) (Unattached) was third (4th overall) over the line in 17:50 - has been first to finish on 2 previous occasions.

St Anne’s Parkrun Event # 19 – Run Report (01/02/2014)

Where is all this rain coming from? When will it end? It seems like it has been raining since New Year's Day! The rain did not deter 175 tough cookies who made like sponges and soaked up all that the heavens had to offer at this week's parkrun. Run Director Mark McComish and his team of volunteers deserve considerable kudos for putting on a great event despite the 'character-building' conditions. That volunteer list in full from Saturday is:

Anna PRINGLE  •  Anne MC COMISH  •  Colm KERNAN  •  Gary KENNY  •  Gillian KENNY  •  Jamie KENNY  •  John BYRNE  •  Mark MCCOMISH  •  Nicole ROECHERT  •  Orla BYRNE  •  Peter O'TOOLE  •  Stephen USSHER  •  Una HERON

Thank you folks!

Out on the windswept and rainy course the runners were led home by Jamie KILLEEN (SM30-34) (Unattached) in 17:56, followed by Derek LAWLOR (SM35-39) (Unattached) in 18:27. An unknown runner was third. The ladies were led home by Maria MURPHY (VW35-39) (Unattached) in 22:00, followed by Rosie LENEHAN (VW40-44) of run4fun in 22:49 and Orla FARRELLY (SW30-34) (Unattached) in 23:46.

Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the St Annes parkrun Results Page. Please note that due to the ridiculous weather conditions, we had a few minor issues with the scanning of the first few runners - some of these have now been fixed, but if your name isn't there, please let us know.

We had two photographers snapping away on Saturday - thank you Denis and Nici - check these out:

We are always looking for volunteers - let's see some new faces over the next few weeks.....  You can volunteer by sending us an email to: stanneshelpers@parkrun.com or through the Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/stannesparkrun/. All volunteer positions are easy, and full training will be given - it's also fun!

This week there were 175 runners, of whom 21 were first timers and 44 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 8 different athletics clubs took part.

St Annes parkrun started on 28th September 2013, and since then 1,225 different runners, including participants from 52 athletics clubs, have completed 3,552 runs covering a total distance of 17,760 km, and there have been 867 new Personal Bests.

For those doing Jantastic - well done, we've performed very well in January, with the St Anne's parkrun team leading the way for Irish parkruns and mixing it with the best in the overall standings!

Until next time, keep up the training, keep plugging away and we will see you at St Anne's parkrun on Saturday. No matter what the weather, we will bring some sunshine to your weekend!!

St Anne’s parkrun – Event #7 – Run Report

The man with the coolest woolly hat in Dublin 5 (Brian) took the helm as RD for the second week in a row at St Annes parkrun #7. The event was held in cool, crisp autumnal awesomeness last Saturday, 9th November, and the promise of another sighting of the aforementioed hat attracted 196 runners and walkers to the leafy lanes of this splendid park.

Emmet O BRIAIN (SM35-39) of Donore Harriers was first over the line in 16:55 in his first (and hopefully not last!) appearance at this event. He was followed by Paul MCKENNA (SM25-29) (Unattached) in 17:25 and Mark MURPHY (SM25-29) of Raheny Shamrocks AC in 17:38. The ladies were led home by Aileen HOOPER (SW30-34) of Raheny Shamrocks AC, (33rd overall) in 21:49 - her first time topping the pile in her 3 appearances in St Annes. Edel MCNAMARA (VW35-39) (Unattached) was second (37th overall) over the line in 22:10, followed by Rosie LENEHAN (VW40-44) of run4fun, who was third (40th overall) over the line in 22:24.

The event's full results can be found here: http://www.parkrun.ie/stannes/results/latestresults/

Well done to all participants and volunteers. There is naturally a focus on those who finish in the top few places, and they deserve huge credit for their speed, effort, training etc. That said I think that some of those for whom running may not come as easily, who come along week in week out, taking a few seconds off their time and battling the odds to get through the 5k, is inspirational in itself. Looking through the results over the last few weeks, we can see some improvements across results at all levels, and that is testament to a commitment to going outside your comfort zone.... getting out there on a Saturday morning when bed, bath or beyond might seem more appealing. That is the essence of parkrun.

Our volunteers once again performed excellently this week and provided the runners with a top quality, free product that has become an integral part of the community. Why not join this merry band of men and women in a future event, by sending us an email to: stanneshelpers@parkrun.com

Our volunteer team this week was as follows:

Brian CHRISTENSEN  •  Jamie KILLEEN  •  Jamie PLUMMER  •  Mark MCCOMISH  •  Maura WATSON  •  Peter O'TOOLE  •  Susan BYRNE

Come along and join us again soon. Spread the word. Tell your friends, tell your family! Tell your wife/ husband/ lover to come down too (maybe not on the same day as it might get you in trouble).
