St Annes parkrun Event # 36 14/06/14

It was a lovely morning on Saturday with a brief bit of rain showers to cool everyone down right at the start of the main event!  I want to thank everyone for sharing the park with the Bike Fest organisers. It was very nice of St. Anne’s Park to not cancel our run to make way for that special event and to allow us to go on as usual Saturday morning.  I think we proved that all 237 of us out there share nicely with the other park users, so thank you all so much for representing St. Anne’s parkrun well!

A very, very warm welcome to our 39 first-timers on Saturday – we certainly hope to see you all back this week for some new PBs!  Speaking of PBs, you guys were on fire this week with 88 new personal bests!  We even had two new timekeepers but I watched them closely and both Helen Keyes and Seán Power started those stopwatches the instant I got to “GO!” so there was no help there!  You all truly achieved it, so give yourselves a pat on the back!

A special congratulations to Fiona Ennis who is the most recent of our Juniors to achieve the “10 Club” with the special badge next to her name on the results page.  Well done, Fiona!

Results:
The men were led home by Martin CONROY in his second showing at St. Anne’s with a new PB of 16:18.  Incredible!  Let’s see how he gets on this week, can he beat  Eoin CALLAGHAN’s course record of 15:45? He must have pushed Alan FOLEY (Raheny Shamrocks AC) to a new PB as well to follow on at 17:23. First timer Fiachra CREAN (Clonliffe Harriers A.C.) was just a step behind Alan and must have been breathing down his neck as he crossed the line at 17:26.

The women were led home by Cecile OLLAGNIER (Sloggers to Joggers) who visited us from Malahide to cross the line in a blistering 20:04.  If that’s what you can get from slogging to jogging, sign me up! Aileen HOOPER (Raheny Shamrocks AC) brought in second place at 21:15 (with another PB!) and Jenny COLBERT nearly photo finished for third with the time of 21:16.

And of course our infamous # 98 place was taken by Liam FERGUSON in 25:09 with a new PB, too!

Volunteers:

The last day of May brought sunshine to the glorious tree-lined paths of St. Anne's park as 239 runners took the opportunity to kick off their weekend the parkrun way at the 34th St. Anne's parkrun. St Anne’s parkrun – Event #13 – Run Report

102 parkrun Santas, Rudolphs and elves were whisked around the park at run #13 with some pretty high winds. What a sight it was to see!! Some were nursing hangovers, some still a little tipsy from the night before, and some anxious to do their last minute panic shopping - you know who you are...

First man home was Peter O'TOOLE (SM30-34) of Crusaders A C Dublin, with a time of 18:14. This was his first time in 4 appearances. First timer to St Anne's parkrun, but running his 125th run was Peter Justin COLLINS (VM40-44) of Hercules Wimbledon AC, was next over the line in 18:20. Another First timer to St Anne's but not to parkrun, Mark LALLY (SM30-34) (Unattached) was third over the line in 18:36. Peter Justin and Mark were visiting from Wimbledon and Dulwich parkruns respectively, so welcome to you both!

St Anne’s parkrun – Event #12 – Run Report

The dark clouds and howling gales threatened on the 14th December as Mark McComish took on the Run Director role for the first time, ably assisted by a superb volunteer team. Thankfully, and much to Mark's relief, the rain held off until after the event, however it was very windy out on course, especially at the back section before turning on to the main straight.

124 runners turned out to battle not only the aforementioned wind, but also  some horrendous hangovers, such is the party season that is upon us. The runners were led home by Richie MAC LIAM (SM30-34) (Unattached) in a time of 17:15 in his first outing at St Annes. Richie was followed home by regular St Annes runner and two time first finisher Martin MCKENNA (SM20-24) (Unattached) in 17:24 and myself, Jamie KILLEEN (SM30-34) (Unattached) rounding off the top three with a time of 17:28.

First lady home (17th overall) was Emma HARDING (SW30-34) of Clonliffe Harriers A.C., in 19:43 in her first appearance, followed by Alex HORGAN (SW20-24) (Unattached) (24th overall) in 20:36 and Catherine LYNCH (VW40-44) (Unattached) (28th overall) in 20:54.

The following runners recorded the best Age Grade scores:
Johnny FENNELL (VM50-54) was graded 78.18% for the time 19:01 (15th overall). Brian CONNOLLY (VM45-49) was graded 77.08% for the time 18:24 (8th overall). John FREIR (VM50-54) was graded 76.76% for the time 19:13 (16th overall).

This week there were 124 runners, of whom 25 were first timers and 22 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 9 different athletics clubs took part.

We look forward to seeing you - same time, same place on the 21st December for our final run before Christmas. Why not put on that Christmas jumper or Santa hat, and get festive at St Annes!

We are planning on holding a parkrun on 28th December (subject to the availability of volunteers), so if you are free to do some barcode scanning, token giving out, marshalling or timekeeping, please let us know.

By volunteering you are contributing the sustainability of an event which is greatly valued in the community. We have a full roster for this coming Saturday (21st), but as mentioned above, we need some for the 28th and of course on into the new year. You can volunteer by sending us an email to: stanneshelpers@parkrun.com or through the Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/stannesparkrun/

Thank you to this week's volunteers:

St Anne’s parkrun – Event #3 – Run Report

186 runners participated in St. Anne's event #3 held yesterday, 12th October. The cooler weather and patchy drizzle at the start did little to dampen the spirits of this bunch of Saturday morning sportsters. As usual, following the safety briefing, the runners were off shortly after 9:30am on the fast, flat PB-encouraging course.

Kieran MARTIN (SM30-34) of Crusaders Athletic Club, was first over the line in 17:08. He was followed by Mark MURPHY (SM25-29) of Raheny Shamrocks AC, in 17:12 closely followed by Gerard MARTIN (SM30-34) (Unattached) in 17:13.

First lady home for the second week running was Aoife BRADY (SW30-34)  of Sportsworld, in 19:00. Aoife was followed by Marie BYRNE (VW35-39) of Clonliffe Harriers A.C., in 20:05 and Helen CARR (VW35-39) of Raheny Shamrocks AC, in 21:03.

Once again, we would like to remind runners not to take the finishing tokens home with them - please bring them along with your athlete barcode to get scanned after you have finished. These tokens are not for keeps!

Finally, we would like to thank all this week's volunteers, some of which were first timers, all doing a superb job to ensure the event ran smoothly -

Anita BANSAL  •  Amit BANSAL  •  Andrew BRADLEY  •  Antonia MARTIN  •  Brian MURTAGH  •  Catherine KILLEEN  •  Denis MURPHY  •  Eoin FEGAN  •  Jamie KILLEEN  •  Jamie PLUMMER  •  Susan HOLMGREN
