St Anne’s parkrun – Event #71, 28th February 2015

Hi parkrunners

A new dawn on 28th February in St. Annes Park allowed me to make my debut as Run Director and all nerves were blown away by
- bright sunshine
- a team of 15 amazing volunteers, who I could not have done without and
- 293 athletes who took on the course
A massive thank you to all 308 of you.

Congratulations to Bernie O'Donoghue Hynes who completed her 50th parkrun today.
Thank you to the Bank of Ireland runners, led by Conor Patton, for visiting our run today and well done on taking our "token 98" in the form of Paul Murray and also to the parkrun Personal Best Group.

Also to Mike Thompson who visited us from Marlow Striders in the UK.

See you all next week.

St Anne’s parkrun – Event #9 – Run Report

There was a decidedly more female air to the parkrun this week, as our first female Run Director took charge. However, this female air didn't descend to the runners, where an equal split of 91 men and 91 women took part (not counting the Unknowns!). Altogether, 195 took part which was quite a decent number considering the Clontarf Half Marathon and 5 Mile race was happening down the road at the same time. So, thank you to everyone who chose us! ;-)

Once again, the young fellas were out in force, with Paul MCKENNA (SM25-29) (Unattached) first over the line with a Personal Best of 17:06. This was Paul's first time to come first having just missed out for the last two weeks! First Timer Stephen CONNON (SM35-39) of Brothers Pearse AC, crossed the finish line second with a time of 17:17. Aidan JONES (SM25-29) (Unattached) was third over the line in 17:30.

Representing the fairer sex, First Timer Catherine LYNCH (VW40-44) (Unattached) was first over the line in 21:28. Ciara KELLY (SW25-29) (Unattached) came next with a time of 21:57 setting a new PB. Hot on Ciara's heels was Alex HORGAN (SW20-24) (Unattached) who crossed the line a second later with a time of 21:58.

This week there were 195 runners, of whom 62 were first timers and 87 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 12 different athletics clubs took part.

Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Stannes parkrun Results Page.

Again, our volunteers are crucial to the event, without them, the run would not go ahead. Why not join us for a future event? We're nice, I promise! There are plenty of jobs to do, full training will be given. There are sometimes jobs you can do, and also run, so it's worth getting in touch. You can volunteer by sending us an email to: or through the Facebook page

Our lovely volunteer team this week was as follows:

Aidan LUCAS  •  Anthony CARROLL  •  Brian CHRISTENSEN  •  Gillian EDGHILL  •  Hugh CRONIN  •  Jamie PLUMMER  •  Jim EDGHILL  •  Liz CONROY  •  Nicole ROECHERT  •  Sean HYNES  •  Tommy CRAMPTON  •  Vikki BARRETT

See you next Saturday!

Jamie Plummer - Run Director (23/11 & 30/11)
