St. Annes parkrunner of the Month for November 2015

Name: Carmel Cassidy
Club: None
Age: 52
Home Parkrun: St.Annes
Occupation: Nurse
Number of runs: 15
Favourite Volunteer Role: I have only tried marshalling so far. I couldn't believe how quickly the time went.
What do you do at parkrun:  I usually arrive with my son Conor (who encouraged me to do my first parkrun).a quick warm-up and a chat with anyone I know before the off.
How has parkrun changed your running: Before my first parkrun I had never run 5K ! It has motivated me and given me more confidence.
What do you like about parkrun; I love the buzz, the encouragement and the sense of belonging to the group. I think I have chatted to someone new each week I've been there.
Most memorable or funniest parkrun:  It has to be my Bere Island run. I know the course well as we go to Bere Island every year and walk that course regularly. It was only when I ran it that I realised how hilly it was! My plan was to keep the local legend (VF 70-74) in my sights. Epic fail... She was almost 2 mins faster than me. LOL.
