Run Report: Event #40 (6th May 2017)

Event #40
6th May 2017

Numbers were slightly down this week, but for a great cause! Oranmore hosted it's first Darkness into Light walk/run in the early hours prior to parkrun. We did notice some runners wearing the t-shirts and we had a few sleepy volunteers who also attended.

Now, back to parkrun - It has been 9 months since the Oranmore event, and it was only a matter of time before we started to celebrate milestones for our runners. Today was our first and it was fitting that it was one of our core team. Adam Leadbetter ran his 50th parkrun today, and we celebrated with balloons and tasty cake! did you get a slice?

 Junior parkrun launching in Oranmore!

We are in the process of starting a new parkrun in Oranmore! Junior parkrun events are for children aged between 4 and 14 years old. They take place on a Sunday morning at 9:30am.

They follow a similar pattern to the senior event, the main difference being the distance is 2km and and the event takes place on a Sunday.

These are really fun events and it will be great to have our own one in Oranmore. However, we need your help!

We are looking for people to help us organise the event. Maybe you are a Saturday runner who would like to give back to parkrun? perhaps you have children who might be attending, and you could volunteer on the day?

If your interested in helping or would like more information, send us an email (, reach out to us on our Facebook page or come over for a chat some Saturday.

A massive thanks to the volunteers which made this week's event happen:

Mary CROWE, Sharon DALY, Maureen DEVANEY, Paul HANNIFFY, Mary KEALY, Majella KING, Eleanor LEADBETTER, Veronica MCKEON, Bernie ROGERS, Brian ROGERS

We have a number of volunteer roles we need to fill in the next few weeks. If you can help out , please get in contact. Send us a message on Facebook, or email
