Despite a large number of our regular runners missing last Saturday due to other great running events happening around the locality - Kilcock 5k, Funlavin 5k/10k and the Phoenix Park 5 miler - we were still kept busy with lots of new runners that turned up at the Raceourse. It is great to witness Naas parkrun growing in popularity as word of mouth spreads and more and more of our community avail of this great free event!
Of course we couldn't mention Dunlavin 10k without congratulating Ann Fitzgerald - a regular parkrunner and volunteer - who came first in her age category last Sunday! A fantastic achievement - well done Ann from all of us in parkrun! Also a big congrats to David Keenan from Newbridge AC who holds our current course record - David came 1st in the Dunlavin 5k with an amazing time which we would love to see him repeat some Sat morning at parkrun
First across the line this week in Naas parkrun was Bob Lawlor with a very impressive time of 19:00, our first lady to finish was Laura Humphrey with a new PB of 22:50 and our first junior across the line was Patrick Farmer. Patrick completed the 5k course in an amazing time of 21:14 - congratulations!
14 new PBs were recorded this week - well done to you all!
We were also joined by two parkrun tourists on Saturday - Grainne and Pete Stables from Bristol. This was Grainne's 55th parkrun! Thank you both for joining our event and we hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Ireland.
We'd like to thank Gerry for his usual great warm-up and running advice and also all our volunteers this week - Tim Farmer, Leonard Jacob, Fiona Gilsenan and Cathy McVicker. Over the summer months we'd appreciate all help with our volunteer roster to keep the event running smoothly - please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you could spare an hour of your time on a Saturday morning!
We look forward to seeing you all bright and early in the morning for another parkrun! Keep spreading the word
