Run Report Oct 5th

It was hard to believe it was October this morning at Marlay parkrun as 398 runners enjoyed glorious Autumn sunshine as they made their way around the 5km Marlay parkrun course. 15 year old Paul O'Donnell was the first to cross the line on his 20th visit to Marlay parkrun. Other performances of note were Noreen O'Dwyer who broke through the 25 minute mark for the first time and Ruth McGann who recorded the best age graded performance finishing in 22:36 with an age graded rating of 81.19%.
Today's results were processed in record time thanks to Jennifer Webb pictured, the results are now available on the Marlay parkrun results pagehttp://www.parkrun.ie/marlay/results/weeklyresults/?runSeqNumber=30 Thanks as always to our volunteers today. Have a great weekend and see you all next week

College Road Car Parking!!

For this Saturday coming,  please take the opportunity to avail of the excellent Car Parking at the College Road Car Park entrance to Marlay Park. This is a key message to all Marlay pakrunners as there will be less spaces in the front car park for the next few weeks as work is underway here.
The benefits of the College Road car parks are:
plenty of spots here
quicker for you get a car parking spot
less chance of holds up for you after the run

Plus you can make the 5 min walk/jog to the start line part of your parkrun warm-up!!

Run Report #11 – 18th May 2013

Run Report #11

Dry conditions greeted nearly 400 runners to Marlay Park for the 11th race of the parkrun series.

Young Paul O'Donnell took an early lead from the gun, on his way to a new PB. The 15 year old set a blistering early pace, passing the 1km point in 3:15, and 5 seconds ahead of the chasing group.

By 4km John Manners had established a 10 second lead from Andrew Lawless, with the rest of the leaders evenly spread out. Undeterred, Lawless mounted a terrific challenge in the final kilometre to pull level with Manners, who held out to win by a nose. This was John's second time at parkrun, and he won in an impressive time of 17:13. In third place was John Healy in 17:43.

Also running were first-timer Brendan Deery and friend John McCauley, who was pushing his baby daughter Maeve in her buggy. Line honours in the buggy category went to Rob Costello and his son Charlie, who completed the course together in an impressive time of 19:26.

Marlay parkrun #6 13th April 2013 Run Report

It was a bit windy out on Saturday making the hill at the half way point even more fun than usual. Despite this 79 of the 339 runners managed to record PBs. We have been following the running adventures of Linda Meehan on her blog and were delighted to see her get under the 35 minute mark for the first time. Marlay parkrun #5 6th April 2013 Run Report

362 stepped out on Saturday for their weekly 5km parkrun on a bright and Spring like morning with PB written all over it. In all there were over 90 PBs, congratulations to Micheal O’Regan, Lorcan Kavanagh and Susan Brennan who all broke through the 25 minute milestone for the first time.

As always a big thank you goes out to all our volunteers, it has been great to hear the very positive feedback on how enjoyable volunteering is, indeed several volunteers have stepped up to the mark on more than one occasions.

We had a number of runners who asked volunteers to record their details even though they did not have a barcode. While we find it difficult to refuse to take the details of parkrunners without barcodes, especially as the whole parkrun vibe is so positive, we do agree with the reasons why parkrun now insist on the no barcode no result rule. See the link below to the March 7th newsletter where subject is discussed in detail.
