Fairview parkrun Run Report #125 - 21st of December 2019

'The Third  Fairview parkrun before Christmas !’

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro’ the park,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a lark;
The bunting was hung by the volunteers with care,
In hopes that the first finisher soon would be there;
The participants were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of directions arrows danc’d in their heads,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
We sprang to the finish to see what was the matter.
Away to the finish line Sean  flew like a flash,
Tore around the corners, and came with a dash.
The mood was festive as we waited to see
Martin and Peter coming in number two and three

When, what to our wondering eyes should appear but Ember,
Denise and Niamh , and many tiny rein-deer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be PJ and Kirsten- Santa's side kick!
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,

And they whistled, and shouted, and call’d them by name:
“Now! Emma,Mary Ellen,Tom and Attila ! Now Muriel,Rhonda  and Joyce ,
“On! Peter,Joe,Muriel,Margaret,Mary and Shane;
The volunteers came when Santy called their names.

“To the top of the pitches! to the top of the wall, turn left at the river three loops in all!
“Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!”
As 73 parkrunners for sure they did fly,
When they met with no obstacles, not even rain from the sky;
So up to through the trees the participants they flew,
With the sleigh full of 6 PB’s and a new registered parkrunners too:

And then in a twinkling, I heard on the depot roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the main pathway 8 clubs registered came with a bound:
The participants eyes - how they twinkled! dimples how merry,
73 cheeks were like roses, and their noses likes cherries;

They volunteers spoke not a word, and began their work,
And fill’d up the trolley and to continue to work,
And laying her finger aside of her nose
And giving a nod, up the pedestrian footbridge they rose.
They sprung to their sleighs, and the team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew, like the down of a thistle:
But I heard them exclaim, ere they drove out of sight-
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
