Run Report#79, 15th April 2017

There was a carnival atmosphere at the park on Saturday with a mini fairground set up between our start and finish areas as well as an Easter Egg hunt taking place just as parkrun ended. The crowds were out in big numbers and 190 completed the 5k. An impressive 55 recorded a new personal best in the sunny conditions. Thanks to all of you who volunteered this week. We really appreciate it. If you would like to volunteer please contact us through our facebook page or email to

Many congratulations to Michelle Dowling who completed her milestone 50th parkrun. Sorry our camera didn't manage to snap Michelle.

Pictured below are Teresa Taaffe and Sinead Morrissey of Dublin Bay Running Club enjoying the sunshine.

It was nice to see our elder statesman John O'Brien with his two sons. Here they are before the start.

A large group from Balbriggan Roadrunners included Georgiana Langan with sister Maria Carolan and her two sons Darragh and Aaron. They were enjoying a few well earned refreshments from the cafe after completing their first parkrun.

Run Report #77, 1st April 2017

This week for the very first time we ran the course backwards, feedback was in the main postitive; that it was something different but I don’t think too many were happy with the long straight fingish on the grass! Saying that 35 of our 169 participants still managed to get new personal bests.

The event was made possible by all this weeks volunteers so a massive thank you to you.
We are very grateful to the volunteers who made this event happen: Nicole Chevalier, Yannick Chevalier, Veronica Cox, Greg Curtis, Alex Curtis, Dave Curtis, Pat Cussen, Patrick E Phillips, Audrey Ennis, Jenny Farrell, Seamus Flynn, Sean Greensit, Elaine Greensit, Paul Kunkels, Rodrigo Lara, Thomas Lara Keith McBain, Patrick Moore, Pat Mulvey, Katrina Rogers, Seamus Rooney and Mandy Scheepers.

We had a busy parkrun this week with, a large group from Lusk AC graduating from the Fit4Life program and another large contingent from sloggers to joggers who were on week 4 of C25K.

Paul Gorman, pictured below completed his 100th parkrun and was cheered on by his friends and family. This is a huge milestone so a big congratulation to him.

This weeks placings are as follows;
Alan McKiernan in a time of 18:35 was first over the line followed by Tom Laforgue in 19:18 and Sam Baker Gorman in 19:40. For the women Fiona crossed the line in 21:55, followed by Katie Halpin in 22:47 and Ann-Marie Gargan in 23:07 was the 3rd female finisher

Our run route will revert to normal this Saturday, we hope to see many of you there again.
