Volunteers and what we do.

We couldn’t run Cobh junior parkrun without our amazing volunteers. Each and every person who volunteers with us is a vital part of our team.So what does it all entail??
This morning we had Ed perform Run Director for the first time and he did a superb job. Mark and Pete met Ed early at the track to help set up the finish line. Mark then did a great warm up with the kids. Julianne, Malcolm, Tony, Tina and Nicky marshalled the course to ensure every runner was safe and encouraged around the course. Claire and Vincent helped give out elastic bands which help the kids remember how many laps they have done. Sinead and Lynsey timed the run and clocked each runner as they crossed the finish line. Gavin handed out the finish tokens and then Pete and Maire scanned the finish tokens and parkrun Id which gives each child a finish time. I did the role of tail walker which ensures that no child is ever last across the line. We then submit our results to parkrun who in turn process the results and email everyone their results. Everyone helps dismantle the finishing area and we leave the track clean and litter free.
We all thoroughly enjoy being part of the parkrun team and look forward to seeing all the runners every week.

Cobh junior parkrun #101

It was a tad cold this morning in Cobh but that didn't stop 50 runners complete Cobh junior parkrun this morning. We had 10 first timers join us today and we recorded 6 personal best times. Three running clubs were well represented; Ballymore Cobh AC, Fota Island Running Club, North Cork AC.

13 volunteers arrived early and set up the track for all our runners to run and enjoy themselves. A big thank you as always to each and every one of these volunteers for their time and effort each week. We would love to have more people join us as volunteers, so if this is something that interests you just come along some Sunday morning around 9 am.

Each week we see all the junior runners run around the course having fun and enjoying themselves and this is what makes Cobh junior parkrun so important and a vital part of our community in Cobh.

Cobh junior parkrun #100

It was a super day in Cobh to celebrate our 100th parkrun. We started Cobh junior parkrun in May 2018 and we have gone from strength to strength each week. We have a fantastic group of volunteers who keep the show on the road. The trojan effort by these individuals is tantamount to the success of Cobh junior parkrun. We could not run Cobh junior parkrun without this support. We as volunteers love to see our junior runners each and every week enjoying themselves at Cobh junior parkrun. We look forward to another 100 junior parkruns in Cobh.
