Charity Walk in aid of Irish Motor Neurone Disease

The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association are hosting a charity walk on Saturday 16th July 2016 at 12 noon.

If you'd like to join in the fun and help fundraise for a well deserving charity why not give this a go.  Or even better, volunteer, run, walk or jog at your parkrun, enjoy a coffee and you'll still have time to be at the start line for this great event.

We are delighted to share the news that our supporters, Leixlip Tennis Club are hosting an open day on 12th June from noon till 3pm.

If you've never tried tennis before and would like to give it a go, pop on over.  There will be lots to do for all ages with coaches on court too.

Maynooth 10k 2016 and Family 5k – “The Rebellion Run” – Sunday 24th April at 10.30

The 2016 Maynooth 10k will take place on Sunday 24th April, the 100th anniversary of the 24th April 1916 Rebellion. The Maynooth Education Campus Parent Teacher Association invite past and present pupils, their families and the general public to celebrate this historic anniversary and the advancements in education over the last 100 years by taking part in our 10K or Family 5K fundraising event. All participants will receive a Rebellion Run medal. Since 1916 Educational facilities in Maynooth have developed to include second level, and a third level University, together catering for almost 14,000 pupils and students, a 10,000% increase. In association with the Maynooth 1916 Centenary Committee the Maynooth Education Campus PTA with the assistance of Maynooth Fire brigade and Height for Hire will decorate Courtyard Square with almost one mile of Tricolour bunting. At the medal presentation ceremony members of Maynooth Comhaltas and musicians from Maynooth Education Campus will play traditional music that was popular during 1916.

The entry fee for the 10k is €20 and there's special Family 5k Rate of €40 (2 adults and one or more children). Enter online here.  A small booking fee will apply but the full entry fee goes to the fundraising effort.



Leixlip 5k Road Race – Le Cheile AC – 7th May 2016

As you know there is NO Castletown parkrun on 7th May as we support Le Cheile AC in their annual 5k Road Race.




The Leixlip 5K Road Race & Fun Run takes place on the May Bank Holiday Saturday in Leixlip, Co. Kildare. The race attracts club athletes, runners, joggers and walkers from the local area and across the country.

The race is part of the Kildare 5K series, which consists of 5 races run by athletics clubs in the county. Over the years, the race has grown in popularity due to the fast course, friendly atmosphere and post race refreshments. This years race is being staged in conjunction with Pop Up Races.

Jog for a dog – Castletown House and Parklands – 17th April 2016


This is the second Jog For A Dog 5k, in the magnificent Castletown House & Parklands in Celbridge. All proceeds from registration & sponsor cards go to Irish registered charity My Canine Companion, Autism Service Dogs.

Runners, joggers & walkers are all welcome, check out their website to keep up to date, or follow jog for a dog on Facebook and on twitter @jogforadog5k.

Come along for a fun day, meet their doggies and help a wonderful charity, you might even meet Sharon Ni Bheoláin who is starting the race. Proudly sponsored by Irish Dog Foods.

Registration available online (Adult runners €15.50, Walkers & U-17s, €10.50) or on the day(Adults €20, Walkers & U-17s €15) Special family rates available for this year€30 (€35 on the day), 11:30am near the visitors car park. Prizes on the day for first 3 males & females home.
