Its hard to believe we are at Event number 174, its feels like yesterday that I rocked up to event #2.
A few of the runners and volunteers looked sleepy last Saturday. We think darkness into light may have been the reason. People joined us following doing darkness into light Celbridge, Maynooth and Enfield. As a few volunteers were unable to help last Saturday we needed to rejig the jobs around so luckily all the volunteers arrived at 9am to enable this.
Shortly after 9.30am the runners all set off. I always aim to set off at 9.30am on the dot so arrive early and ensure you do not get caught out.
Castletown regular Michael Comer was first runner home closely by regulars John Regan and Eoin Kelly.
parkrun super tourist Lisa Shine from Cabinteeley was first lady home. Castletown was the 37th different parkrun venue Lisa has run at. Castletown regulars Jacqueline Kearns and Sophia O'Hara completed the top 3 ladies.
We also had one tourist set out for Kilcock parkrun and end up at Castletown. We are not sure if that was faith or google maps acting up.
We had 17 people run Castletown for this first time and 30 others getting personal bests. We were helped along by 18 volunteers.
Catherine REILLY • John O'LONE • Karl MITCHELL • Katelyn KIERNAN • Kevin WALSH • Kim O'LONE • Laetitia HEALY • Marc AUGUSTIN • Marian FAGAN • Mary KIERNAN • Melanie TUFFEN • Philip SLATTERY • Sharon ASHMORE • Thomas MCKEON • Vinny BROWNE
We still have a few spots for volunteer pacers this weekend. If you can volunteer this please contact us by email, Facebook, twitter, smoke signals or stopping us in the middle of Tesco.
Till next week if we could look as happy as Ed and Mel do we would be doing well.
