Happy New Year to all Ballyogan Junior parkrunners and their parents/guardians! New Years day is one of the 2 special days on which we can hold a parkrun other than our usual Sunday so we decided to go for it! It was a cold but glorious morning so kudos to the 34 kids that got out of bed and made their way around the course this morning. Many thanks also to our team of 12 volunteers that made our junior parkrun possible this morning. All parkruns are community based and volunteer led so would not be able to run a safe and timed run without them!
Volunteering is easy and there is a brief and training for all roles so if you are dropping off your child or children Sunday or the week after why not put your name down to be on the high viz hero volunteer team while they run. Being busy volunteering also means you are less cold!
7 of the 34 participants were first timers and of those returning 2 got new PBs this morning, which included our first finisher Ruairidh who was pushed all the way by his brother. Well done to all and see you back this coming Sunday. Oh and remember: don’t forget that barcode, printed, laminated and pinned on your jersey or around your neck on a lanyard!
