Event number 155
8th June 2019
On a cool morning 375 people ran, jogged and walked the course, 53 were first timers, 55 recorded new Personal Bests and representatives of 24 different clubs took part. It was great to see the purple, black, yellow and pink tops worn by so many parkrunners who were part of the marathon, half marathon, relay and volunteer teams in Cork City last Sunday.
Twenty people took part in their first ever parkrun - hopefully you enjoyed the experience and that it will be first of many parkruns for you. Among the first timers were Conor and Rebecca who joined us from Carrickfergus. Between them they have run parkrun 284 times with each having run more than 60 different parkruns which is some achievement.
We were also joined by Gus from Torquay parkrun (Australia), Pat whose home parkrun is Kaloorlie-Boulder (Australia), Helen from Wepre parkrun (Wales), Michael from Dublin and closer to home we had Tom from Clonakilty, and Mairead, Evelyn & Peter visited from the Glen River parkrun.
The event was made possible by 29 volunteers led by RD Michael:
Nessan FRAWLEY • Denis Tony KELLEHER • Jimmy DELANEY • Proinnsias O'KEEFFE • Joe MURPHY • Colette RYAN • Maretta BRENNAN • Michael BRENNAN • Ken BISHOP • Denis MANNING • Ciaran CAHILL • Paula O'SULLIVAN • Killian HICKEY • Joseph LACY • Julie O SULLIVAN • Robert HOWE • Jane MOFFATT • Patrick J HURLEY • Donal FENNESSY • Dj O'SULLIVAN • Keira DELANEY • Grace DELANEY • Peter HABERMAYER • Ciara BOWE • Nick HOGAN • Peter HERTTING • Donna PEYTON • Shay GOGARTY • Roan GOGARTY
The first male finisher was Nick Hogan who has finished in the top three on nine separate occasions - the only times he finished outside the top four was when he was pacer. He finished this morning in a time of 17:59. Well done Nick.
Congratulations to Claire O'Brien, the first female finisher, who had a Personal Best of 19:26, smashing her previous PB of 19:54 at her last outing to Ballincollig parkrun.
There were no new members of the milestone clubs this week but next week is our third birthday
We want to wish RD Frances well as she recovers from an injury to her foot.
