It's just been brought to our attention that there have been break ins at the Malahide castle car parks last Saturday (21st Sept). Please take care not to leave any valuables in parked cars. Also, if you see anything suspicious please report it to a park ranger, or to one of the volunteers at the run. Thanks!
Welcome back after the Summer to all Malahide parkrunners. We will hopefully be posting a weekly report again on this news page, with links from Facebook, starting this week.
Just to catch up on a few things. We have only seven runs left this year before our first anniversary on November 9th. Yes, it's hard to believe it's nearly a year since we started! Malahide was the first parkrun (in the republic) and now we have six in total, including neighbouring St Annes, which starts next week. Doesn't time fly? The end of the year at parkrun also means the end of the annual points competition for men and women. As many of you know, you get points for each run you do, based on position crossing the line, together with points for volunteering up to three times. This competition rewards consistency as can be seen in the men's competition, which is being led by Seamus Kavanagh, who is also on target to be the first parkrunner to join the 50 club in the country.
The women's competition is a much closer run affair, with several runners still in contention to be our first female points winner. Brid Beausang is leading at the moment, just ahead of Jessica Ferguson, with Siobhan McCarthy and (junior) Aoife Duffy not far behind.
On the anniversary itself, this will be on November 9th. So, keep the date free as we hope to organise a couple of things around that. So, stay tuned for more information coming soon.
A big thanks to all runners who have volunteered during the first 12 months of Malahide parkrun. Without volunteers, the event cannot take place. Volunteering is almost as much fun (maybe more) than running and none of the jobs are difficult to do. We request all regular runners to volunteer at least three times a year. Check out the volunteer web page for more information.
Finally, our temporary course will still be in use this week (21 Sept) but we will probably be back to the old course the following week (28th) subject to the works at the cricket club being completed by then.
Hi. The times have been added to the results for December 29th. So, everything should be okay with the results now.
As I mentioned on the Facebook page, there were a couple of issues with the timing last Saturday (29th). So, the initial set of results posted does not include times. This has the effect of giving everyone a time of 59:59. Should be able to correct this later in the week though.
