So, we had Melanie Tuffen pay a return visit to her home parkrun of Castletown, and despite threats fo a Brexit tax of 1 minute on her time, she not only did the results processing, but also wrote the Run Report....thank you as always Melanie!!
The night before the wind howled and rattled the letterbox, and rain lashed against the windows, but 226 runners still braved Castletown parkrun in the morning. They were rewarded with a rather soggy course, but a rain free if blustery run! As I type this the rain is lashing again, and I am grateful it held off for the run! The puddles on the course are always a challenge, but watching a toddler jump repeatedly in them with delight I felt that perhaps we all need to embrace out inner child – and just get muddy!
There were first timers galore as well! We were joined by the football team from Salesian’s college, as well as another 13 first timers. There were also an incredible 27 personal bests.
Congratulations to Eavan Connolly, who joined us for her 100th parkrun.
Evan getting her 100 cert
And to Joan McTernan, who did her 50th parkrun and celebrated a birthday on the same day!
It was fantastic to be back in Castletown, where I never feel like a tourist – it always just feels like coming home! Though I would really appreciate it if you could get rid of that hill before my next visit.
